This program is an accelerated course and designed for individuals that have some exposure to computer hardware and networking technology. The more critical factor, however, is a commitment to invest in ones own career development and a passion for learning. This is a rigorous program that requires a strong commitment and ability to prioritize the 20-hour per week learning time required into your existing schedule.
The program is comprised of four distinct sections, each representing a building block as individuals progress to achieving the status of Jr. Cybersecurity Consultant. Each section can be thought of as a gate that must be successfully executed prior to advancing to the next step.
Gate 1: CYB 300: Introduction To Cybersecurity (24 Hours) Designed to provide those completely unfamiliar with Cybersecurity with a basic understanding of NIST’s Cybersecurity Framework and the five functions are explored.
• Identify
• Protect
• Detect
• Recover
• Respond
Optional for those with previous experience or exposure to these topics.
Gate 2: CYB 403: Information Assurance III: Security+ (80 Hours) This course is designed to teach students security basics and prepare them for CompTia’s Security+ certification. The following topics are covered: threats and attacks, networking technologies and tools, secure design and architecture, identity and access management, risk assessment and management, and finishes up with Cryptography and Public Key Infrastructure.
Gate 3: CMD 410: Career Consulting 101 (60 Hours) This course will guide participants through KP's proprietary methodology for management consulting and prepare participants to conduct a live cybersecurity audit with a KP Network Partner. Individuals will learn how to conduct data gathering interviews, analyze collected data, develop a formal deliverable and deliver the audit readout to senior management.
Gate 4: CYB 499: US Cyber Core - Cybersecurity Audit (80 Hours) US Cyber Core is KP’s proprietary brand that allows our learners to have a tremendous experiential learning experience by participating in a professional cybersecurity audit for one of KP’s Network Partners as a Jr. Security Analyst. Students are expected to apply the learnings from the previous courses to an actual client under the leadership of an experienced Talent Advisor. Teams of 2-5 students work collaboratively to form a project team for each engagement. KP is a social impact organization, and our mission is to assist individuals that face barriers to employment navigate their way into careers with high earning potential. Our target populations are often veterans, minorities, low-income individuals, dislocated workers, immigrants, foster care youth and “uniquely abled” individuals. These individuals are often eligible for government subsidies through our partnerships with local workforce development boards (WIOA), veteran affairs (GI Bill / COOL), vocational agencies (Medicaid/Social Security) and other funding mechanisms.
For those not eligible for these financing options, KP has a self-sponsorship model defined as a “fair-labor exchange” where an individual can “barter” their time in exchange for credit to take a KP course. For additional information on any of these funding options, please contact careers@kpconnect.com.

KP’s program is a 100% virtual program that includes both live sessions with an experienced Talent Advisor as well as asynchronous learning that is completed independently on our KP Life e-learning platform. Active participation is required via online forums and through assessments at the conclusion of each module. This structure provides adult learners that are balancing this learning opportunity with their personal responsibilities (i.e., childcare, work, family) with maximum flexibility as they seek to advance their careers in information technology.
